Astrid Breuer is a Global Fellow, under the auspices of The Lawrence J. Chastang Global Fellows Program at the University of Central Florida, for the Global Perspectives Office. A senior at UCF, she is majoring in International and Global Studies and French, with a minor in Hospitality Management. She will serve as 2010-2011 Vice President of the UCF chapter of the National French Honor Society. Her research interests include environmental issues and the European Union. Upon graduation, Breuer plans to pursue a graduate degree in either international relations or European studies. A native of Paraguay, she speaks Spanish and French, and has traveled throughout Europe.
Global Peace Fellow
Sonya Dumas is the Global Peace Fellow, under the auspices of the Sibille H. Pritchard Global Peace Fellowship, for the Global Perspectives Office and the UCF Global Peace and Security Program. A junior at Rollins College, she is majoring in International Affairs, with a minor in Writing, Professional Writing concentration. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her research interests include international business and the environmental and socioeconomic issues facing cultures around the world, with an emphasis on China and Japan. Dumas has studied Japanese.
Stephanie Parenti is the 2010-2011 MacArthur Scholar, under the auspices of the William MacArthur International Affairs Awards Program, for the Global Perspectives Office. A senior at UCF, she is majoring in International Relations, with a minor in History and Language. She is also a McNair Senior Scholar and the President of Amnesty International at UCF. Her research interests include Constructivism, Neocolonialism in Africa, National Security and Diplomacy. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in international relations. Parenti speaks Spanish and French, and has traveled to Croatia and the United Kingdom.
India Program Fellow
Alana Persaud is the India Program Fellow, under the auspices of The Anil and Chitra Deshpande India Program Endowed Fund, for the Global Perspectives Office and The India Program at UCF. A junior at UCF, she is majoring in Molecular Biology and Microbiology with a minor in Humanities. She is a member of the Pre-Professional Medical Society and Sangam. She was recently awarded a study abroad scholarship by the Burnett Honors College. Her research interests include international medicine, with an emphasis on India in the Middle East. Upon graduation, she plans to attend medical school. A native of Canada, she speaks some Hindi and has traveled to India, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, and England.
