Berrios, Melissa

Melissa Berrios

MacArthur Scholar

Melissa Berrios was the MacArthur Scholar for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing an Undergraduate degree in International and Global Studies, with a minor in European Studies and a certificate in Diplomacy. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Pi Fraternity and Chi Omega Fraternity. Her research interests include European history, politics and culture. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing Master’s in International Communication. A student of Spanish, French, and Portuguese, Berrios has traveled to Chile, Argentina, Holland, Germany, Turkey, France, and Italy, among other countries.

 
Forbes, Ligia

Ligia Forbes

Francis Bok Human Trafficking Awareness Fellow

Ligia Forbes was the Francis Bok Human Trafficking Awareness Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in English Literature, with a minor in International and Global Studies. She is a member of uKNIGHTed for UNICEF and the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta. Her research interests include human trafficking awareness, Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in journalism, publishing, or law. A student of Spanish and French, Forbes has traveled Colombia, the Caribbean, Panama, Costa Rica, Portugal, France and Monaco.

 
Fulk, Alanna

Alanna Fulk

Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow

Alanna Fulk was the Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a sophomore at the University of Central Florida pursuing degrees in Spanish and Technical Communication, with a minor in Diplomacy. Fulk plays viola in the Central Florida Community Arts Orchestra and is a Deputy Pro Tempore in the UCF Student Senate. Her research interests include Latin American affairs, feminism and immigration policy. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a law degree or graduate degree. A student of Spanish, Fulk has traveled to England and Spain, as well as Ireland, where she has dual citizenship.

 
Gottsleben, Jessica

Jessica Gottsleben

Sibille H. Pritchard Global Peace Fellow

Jessica Gottsleben was the Sibille H. Pritchard Global Peace Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior in The Burnett Honors College at the University of Central Florida pursuing dual degrees in Radio and Television Broadcast Journalism and Political Science (Pre-Law), and a Certificate in Leadership Studies. She is a Knight Camp Counselor, the President of the Student Center for the Public Trust and Vice Chair of the Knightmare Advisory Board, in addition to other activities. Her research interests include gender studies, human trafficking and governmental policy. Upon graduation, she plans on continuing her education in graduate school. Gottsleben has traveled throughout the United States and the West Indies. She was also recently inducted into the Order of Pegasus, Class of 2014.

 
Huang, Thomas

Thomas Huang

China-Taiwan Fellow

Thomas Huang was the China-Taiwan Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. A junior at UCF, he is pursuing a degree in Economics with minors in Statistics, International Business and Political Science. He is a member of Student Government Association, Model United Nations, College of Business Student Ambassadors and the Burnett Honors College. Huang also serves as an International Buddy to incoming exchange students. His research interests include economic policy and international affairs. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing a career within the U.S. Department of State. A student of Chinese, Khmer, French and Spanish, Huang has traveled to many parts of Asia and Europe while studying abroad.

 
Lobo, Rafaella

Rafaella Lobo

Alexandra Cousteau Environment and Global Climate Change Fellow

Rafaella Lobo was the Alexandra Cousteau Environment and Global Climate Change Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is on her second year of graduate school, pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Politics (Political Science). Her research interests include global environmental politics, sustainability and conservation biology, with a special interest in marine conservation biology. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in Marine Science and Conservation. Lobo is from Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and hopes to improve her basic French in the future. She has participated on study abroad and language programs, where she had the opportunity to live in Canada, Spain, England and the US. Lobo has also traveled to Mexico, South Africa, Curaçao and Puerto Rico, as well as Western Europe.

 

 
Madonna, Christian

Christian Madonna

Lawrence J. Chastang Fellow

Christian Madonna was the Lawrence J. Chastang Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing degrees in both International & Global Studies and Marketing, with a minor in International Business. He is a member of the Burnett Honors College and active in Engineers without Borders at UCF, serving as Local Project Manager for the Bithlo Aquaponics Project. His research interests include international development, international trade and the environment. Upon graduation, he plans on seeking employment with the U.S. State Department before continuing to graduate studies in International Affairs. He has studied Italian, Spanish and French, and has traveled throughout Europe.
