Taylor Ashley was an intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is in his final semester at the UCF College of Business pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration. His research interests include US relations with Cuba, globalization’s effect on indigenous cultures and measuring the impact of non-profit organizations and NGOs. Upon graduation, he plans on joining the Peace Corps. He is fluent in Spanish and has traveled to various countries in the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In his free time, Taylor enjoys going on hikes with his wife and dachshund.
Frank Calebrese was an intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing an undergraduate degree in comparative politics with a minor in Middle Eastern studies. He is a member of the United Nations Association and the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. His research interests include the Middle East, Islam and causes of war. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing a government job in international relations with the United States and the Middle East. He has traveled to Turkey, England, Croatia, parts of Central America and plans to study Arabic.
Romina Jarc was a volunteer for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a Master’s student at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia pursuing a degree in Translation Studies, with a minor in Interlinguistic Mediation. Her research interests include human trafficking, international cultures and psychology. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue an internship at the EU. A Slovenian native, she speaks Italian, English and conversational French. Jarc has traveled to Tunisia, the US and throughout Europe.
Joshua McConnell was an intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in International and Global Studies, with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. He is President of the Orlando Dream Defenders. His research interests include post-colonial theory, Middle Eastern state formation and politics, Arabic and Islamic studies. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue graduate studies in International Relations or Arab Studies. McConnell is currently studying Arabic.
Taylor Schaefer was an intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a graduate student at the University of Central Florida pursuing an M.A in International Studies. She is a member of the League of Women Voters of Orange County and a non-profit organization called The Borgen Project. In addition to her major, her research interests include women’s rights, developing nations and water-related issues. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a career within an international governmental organization or non-governmental organization. She speaks Spanish and is a student of Italian. Schaefer has traveled extensively through Western Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Taylor Scimeca was an intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a dual degree in Political Science and Spanish Language, with a minor in Terrorism Studies. She is president of Honors Congress and a member of Justice League. Her research interests include female terrorism, linguistics and the Intelligence Community. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing graduate school. A student of Spanish, Scimeca looks forward to traveling to the Dominican Republic and Italy this summer.
