Dabney, Darin

Darin Dabney

Public Relations Intern

Darin K. Dabney is the Fall 2016 Public Relations Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in Advertising & Public Relations with a minor in Dance. She is a member of RUKUS Entertainment and Her Campus. Her research interests include cultural diversity and intersectional feminism. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing graduate studies in performing arts administration.

 
Bass, Phillip

Phillip Bass

Intern

Phillip Bass is a Fall 2016 Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing in Behavioral & Social Sciences and the Humanities, with minors in Marketing, Diplomacy and European Studies. He is Vice President of the International Relations Club, Undersecretary General of Crisis for KnightMUN XV and a member of the United Nations Association at the University of Central Florida. His research interests include European Studies, Chinese investment in Latin America and Middle Eastern policy decisions. Bass has traveled to Canada, France, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 
Derks, John

John Derks

Intern

John Derks is a Fall 2016 intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics, with a minor in Political Science. He is a member of the UCF International Relations Club and Knight’s Wake at UCF. His research interests include world history, East Asia, the Middle East and microfinance. Upon graduation he plans on pursuing graduate studies in Economics or employment in the international arena. A student of French, Derks has traveled to South Korea and Haiti and studied abroad in Rome, Italy.

 
Gañán, Alex

Alex Gañán

Intern

Alex Gañán is a Fall 2016 Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing degrees in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies, with a minor in Cinema Studies. Gañán is a member of the United Nations Association whose research interests include East Asian affairs, U.S. politics and the role of media in culture. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing a career in the public or private sector. A student of Spanish, German and Russian, Gañán has traveled throughout North America, the Caribbean and Western Europe.

 
Gandy, Lauren

Lauren Gandy

Intern

Lauren Gandy is a Fall 2016 intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing dual undergraduate degrees in Forensic Science – Biochemistry Track and French, with minors in Biomedical Sciences and Chemistry. She is a member of the President’s Leadership Council and actively involved in the UCF American Chemical Society Student Chapter. Her research interests include bioterrorism, primary school science education for young women and global forensic DNA policy. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a doctorate in biochemistry and a position within the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes. A student of French, Gandy plans to travel to Montréal and France.

 
Howe, Jacob

Jacob Howe

Intern

Jacob Howe is a Fall 2016 Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing an undergraduate degree in International and Global Studies with a minor in Global Peace and Security. He serves as Secretary General for the United Nations Association’s high school conference, KnightMUN, and is a member of the Russian Central Florida Community Center. His research interests include transatlantic security, Balkans studies and Electoral Politics. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing graduate studies. A student of French and Russian, Howe has traveled to Québec and Jamaica.

 
Lauredan, Bernice

Bernice Lauredan

Intern

Bernice Lauredan is a Fall 2016 intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and Comparative Politics. She is the president of Pi Delta Phi National French Honor Society, treasurer of the International Relations Club and a member of the United Nations Association. Her research interests include political effects of terrorism, gender and globalization and development in Africa. A student of French, Lauredan has traveled to Tanzania, and much of Europe and the Caribbean.
