Bass, Phillip

Phillip Bass

Intern

Phillip Bass is a Fall 2016 Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing in Behavioral & Social Sciences and the Humanities, with minors in Marketing, Diplomacy and European Studies. He is Vice President of the International Relations Club, Undersecretary General of Crisis for KnightMUN XV and a member of the United Nations Association at the University of Central Florida. His research interests include European Studies, Chinese investment in Latin America and Middle Eastern policy decisions. Bass has traveled to Canada, France, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.

 
Dabney, Darin

Darin Dabney

Public Relations Intern

Darin K. Dabney is the Fall 2016 Public Relations Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in Advertising & Public Relations with a minor in Dance. She is a member of RUKUS Entertainment and Her Campus. Her research interests include cultural diversity and intersectional feminism. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing graduate studies in performing arts administration.

 
Wintzer, Lubba

Lubba Wintzer

Chastang Global Fellow

Lubba Wintzer is the Fall 2016 Chastang Global Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies, with a minors in European Studies and Middle Eastern Studies. She is a member of the International Relations club and Knights for Israel. Her research interests include Middle Eastern issues, the relationship between the United States, Europe and Russia, and the effect of one State’s decision upon the world. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a master’s degree in International Relations or Conflict Resolution. A student of French and Hebrew, Wintzer has traveled throughout Europe, as well as Africa and Asia.

 
Mandes, Chelsea

Chelsea Mandes

Francis Bok Human Trafficking Awareness Fellow

Chelsea L. Mandes is the Fall 2016 Francis Bok Human Trafficking Awareness Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a graduate student at the University of Central Florida, pursuing a Master of Social Work degree. She is the president of the Master’s of Social Work Student Organization and a graduate research assistant to Dr. Kim Gryglewicz. Her research interests include factors influencing sexual violence re-victimization; sexual violence and suicide versus non-lethal self-harm; and resilience following sexual trauma. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a doctorate in sociology. A student of Romanian and Italian, Mandes has lived in and traveled throughout Eastern Europe.

 

 
Scimeca, Taylor

Taylor Scimeca

Stephen Sloan Terrorism Studies Fellow

Taylor Scimeca is the Fall 2016 Stephen Sloan Terrorism Studies Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing dual degrees in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Terrorism Studies. She is the Student Government Association Chief Justice and the Chair of the President’s Leadership Council. Her research interests include counterterrorism, the effects of terrorism on refugee populations and linguistics. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a graduate degree in National Security with a focus in Terrorism Studies. A student of Spanish and Italian, Taylor has studied abroad in Florence, Italy and traveled to Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic.

 
Box, Christy

Christy Box

Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow

Christy Box is the Fall 2016 Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a degree in Anthropology. She is a member of the Research and Mentoring Program, a Burnett Research Scholar and President of the Hominids Anonymous Anthropology Club. Her research interests include endangered languages, disability studies and media representation of marginalized groups. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing a PhD in Cultural Anthropology. Box has conducted research fieldwork in the UK and Ireland, and she is a student of Italian, Latin, German, Spanish and Hebrew.

 
Goberdhan, Pratyush

Pratyush Goberdhan

India Fellow

Pratyush S. Goberdhan is the Fall 2016 India Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. He is a junior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies, with minors in French and Art History. He is a member of Sangam Indian Students Association and the United Nations Association at UCF, and is a professional Indian classical musician. His research interests include Kashmir, secularism in India and the struggle between cultural identity and progress. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing law school. A student of French and Hindi, Goberdhan has traveled to China, Ireland, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.
