Chastang, Patricia

Patricia Chastang

Intern

Patricia Chastang is an Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. A Junior at UCF, she is majoring in Accounting. She is a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. Chastang’s research interests include studying foreign languages, politics and human trafficking. Upon graduation, she plans on pursuing graduate studies and taking the CPA exam. Fluent in Spanish, Chastang has traveled to Israel, and throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.

 
Mahanpour, Moujgun

Moujgun "Melissa" Mahanpour

Intern

Moujgun Melissa Mahanpour is an Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. A Junior at UCF, she majors in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations and minors in Legal Studies. Mahanpour is the President and Co-founder of International Knights as well as a member of Phi Alpha Delta. Her research interests include security studies, Kurdish conflict, counter-terrorism and Middle Eastern studies. Upon graduation, she plans to attend graduate school. Conversational in Farsi and a student of Russian, Mahanpour has traveled to throughout Eastern Europe.

 
Medina, Nicole

Nicole Medina

Intern

Nicole Medina is an Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. A Senior at UCF, she is majoring in International & Global Studies and French with a minor in Art History. Medina is President of UCF’s chapter of Campus Peace Action. Her research interests include human rights, diplomacy and the Middle East. Upon graduation, Medina plans to attend law school. Fluent in Spanish and proficient in French, she has traveled to France, Kosovo, India, Monaco, and the Caribbean.

 
Payne, Shannon

Shannon Payne

Intern

Shannon Payne is an Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. A Junior at UCF, she is majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Diplomacy. Payne is an Honors Team Leader, the Secretary of the Honors Congress, serves on Knight-Thon’s Morale Team and is a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Her research interests include socio-cultural anthropology and international culture and politics. Upon graduation, Payne plans to pursue graduate studies in Cultural Anthropology or International Studies. An English native, Payne is conversational in French and a student of Russian, and has traveled throughout Europe.

 
Besaw, Clayton

Clayton Besaw

Stephen Sloan Terrorism Studies Fellow

Clayton Besaw is the Stephen Sloan Terrorism Studies Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. A graduate of UCF, he is now pursuing graduate studies in Political Science. Besaw is a member of the Political Science Graduate Student Association and participates in the Political Ecology Lab. His research interests include political violence, psychology and quantitative methodology. Upon graduation, Besaw plans to pursue a PhD in Political Science. Fluent in German and conversational in Dutch and Spanish, he has traveled to Canada, Japan, Mexico, Colombia and throughout Europe.

 
Rodriguez, Eric

Eric Rodriguez

Intern

Eric Rodriguez is an Intern for the Global Perspectives Office. A Senior at UCF, he is majoring in International and Global Studies with a minor in Asian Studies and certificates in Crime Analysis and Mapping as well as Public and Professional Writing. At UCF, Rodriguez is a member of Amnesty International, Invisible Children and the United Nations Association. His research interests include human rights, terrorism studies and journalism. After graduation, Rodriguez plans on pursuing graduate coursework and a law degree. Fluent in Spanish and studying Mandarin, he has traveled to Canada and throughout Europe and the Caribbean.

 
Illiano, Salvio

Salvio Illiano

Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow

Salvio Illiano is the Isle of Man Small Countries Fellow for the Global Perspectives Office. A senior at UCF, he is double-majoring in International and Global Studies and French. He currently serves as president of the UCF chapter of the French National Honor Society. His research interests include Middle Eastern politics and foreign literature. Upon graduation, he plans to study intensive Arabic at the Università Orientale di Napoli. He has traveled to southern Europe and is fluent in Italian, French and Spanish and is currently studying Arabic.
