Human Trafficking Awareness Month “Lunch and Learn” Series

This series will focus on sex trafficking. Discussions will take participants from an emerging area of risk – social media – through activities designed to reduce the likelihood of being trafficked and reducing demand for trafficked persons to programs that offer hope for persons recovered from trafficking experiences.

Social Media and Human Trafficking Victimization

This session features a discussion on how social media is employed to both recruit and advertise the services of trafficked persons, featuring researchers and practitioners.

Life after Being Trafficked/Families and Human Trafficking

This session features a discussion on pathways out of trafficking for survivors, victim service groups, abduction and how victims get into it, and at-risk communities and youth.

Prevention and Demand Reduction

This session focuses on efforts to prevent recruitment of victims, as well as programs designed to reduce the demand for services of trafficked persons.
Special guest speakers include: Ms. Katherine Gomez from the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and Dr. Roberto H. Potter, the Director of the HTMS Center at UCF.
