The Puerto Rico Research Hub presents a moderated dialogue on Puerto Rican political status featuring Martin E. Rivera, Director of Advocacy for the Puerto Rico Statehood Council, and Alberto C. Medina, President of Boricuas Unidos en la Diáspora (BUDPR).
Drawing on backgrounds in public policy, advocacy, journalism, and authorship, both speakers will examine the historical context and contemporary realities surrounding Puerto Rico’s political status. The discussion will explore how statehood, sovereignty, and self-determination continue to shape policy, identity, and civic engagement on the island and within the Puerto Rican diaspora.
