Biography
Lina Hosney is a Fall 2026 Special Projects Fellow at the Office of Global Perspectives and International Initiatives. She is a senior at the University of Central Florida pursuing a B.S. in Data Science, graduating in December 2026. Hosney transferred to UCF from the American University in Cairo and is an honors student at the Burnett Honors College. Her research sits at the intersection of data science and social science, focusing on how quantitative methods can shed light on communities that are underrepresented in existing policy research, including immigrant populations, diaspora communities, and the MENA region. She has presented her research at the Southern Sociological Society Annual Conference and on Florida Frontiers Radio, and has been accepted to present at the International Studies Association Annual Conference in 2027. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue opportunities in applying data science to global policy challenges and community-focused research. Hosney is fluent in Arabic and English and has lived in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
